More Breaking News About Our First Scare

We were going to update you on our visit to Java Jungle this week but more important news has emerged . . . As many of you may know, I have been such a healthy baby from the time that I was born. My pediatrician commented on it at every well visit. Well, it seems that almost year of health and wellness is now cathing up with me. I am only a week shy of turning one, and I am falling apart. Wow, I understand what people talk about now when they say that they are falling apart with age . . .

As I updated you before, I had to be rushed to the ER for a super high fever and then to the doctor on Friday for a check up. It appeared that things were going to turn around for me after the check up with the doctor since things looked better. I was taking my amoxicillin every morning and evening as instructed and I was sleeping through the night. Until . . .

. . . I woke up yesterday morning and Mom noticed my cheeks weren't just rosy, they were covered in a rash. How could this have happened? I was doing what the doctor had ordered, we didn't understand. Mom was pretty freaked out when she went to change me and put an outfit on me. It wasn't just my cheeks, I was covered with a rash; my cheeks, neck, back, arms, legs, and even a little on my feet. What had happened? Well since Mom saw that, she immediately called my pediatrician and they got me in yesterday afternoon. Good thing! Once we got in with the doctor, Mom updated her on my condition and told her about my change to milk. The doctor said immediately upon looking ar my rash - "she's allergic to the amoxicillin"! What?!? She asked if Mom or Dad was and no, they were not. I guess I am! She told us to stop the amoxicillin and to take oatmeal baths. Dad thought that was pretty funny! Mom immediately packed up from the doctor to head to CVS to get some Aveeno bath wash and lotion. She was able to find some oatmeal and fragrance free for my ezcema. Last night, Mom gave me a bath in it and coated me with lots of the oatmeal lotion. This morning, I woke up and my rash had started to merge together, it looks so wierd! What am I going to do about my birthday party?!? The doctor said we should see some improvements within a week but come on, a girl has to look her best for her party, right! The good thing is that I am getting back to myself, I am feeling much better, playing better, and eating better too. I am sure that Mom will update you on my condition . . .

Our First Scare . . .

Last week sure was a rough one, maybe the roughest I have had yet to date. I have had a couple of runny noses but that wasn't too bad because I felt okay. Well last Tuesday, I had the worst night! I was so uncomfortable. Every time that I ate, I threw everything back up. Mom and Dad resorted to bottles and liquid only but nothing would stay down. My temperature was up a little but not terrible, it was 100.4 but that was before later that night!

After several times of trying to go to sleep in my crib, it just wasn't working; I was so uncomfortable and truthfully, I needed to be cuddled. So since neither I nor Mom were getting any sleep, Mom got up and we slept together on the couch. At around 4am early Wednesday morning, I woke up on Mom and wow, was I hot!!! I mean hot!!! Mom got really worried because I had taken Motrin before finally going to sleep. Mom took my temperature and thought there was no way 104.3 was correct so she took it again and sure enough, 104.3 it was! While Mom got a cloth for my head to help with the temp, Dad got the Motrin, but no luck, because I even threw it up! With that, Dad said for us to throw on some clothes and head out.

We went to the hospital where I was born because it is so close! Now it would have been nice to see everyone from almost a year ago but under these circumstances, I was not excited! I felt horrible and was sooooo tired! When we got there, my temp had gone down a bit to 102.5 but the doctors still examined and tested everything. My diagnosis was a fever and ear infection. They sent me home with antibiotic and told us to follow up with my pediatrician in the next couple off days.

So that is just what we did . . . on Friday, we got in to the doctor and she re-exmined me. She said my ear was not too bad and with the vomiting and now diarrhea, she thinks it is the stomach flu. Since this was the first time that I have really been sick, Mom and Dad were a bit worried. Mom kept getting thrown up on every time she tried to feed me and I just wanted to be held all the time. They didn't mind the holding so much but were worried because I was not eating much at all. After a couple of days, I was doing a little better and am happy to report, I am feeling about 70% back to myself. I still do not have much of an appetite and I am sleeping a lot. Mom and Dad keep checking on me when I am sleeping because I am sleeping so much more than normal but we all hope that is the healing process. All of that sleeping may be helping with the sickness but it sure is giving me some serious bedhead!

What Fun! The 4th of July and I turn 11 Months!

This weekend was so much fun! We used it to get some real quality family time. Dad has been so busy and it was nice to spend a lot of time with him. On Friday night, we took it easy and just rented some movies, then Saturday, we enjoyed the holiday by cooking out and trying some fireworks. I was so excited for the fireworks because our neighbors had let some off and I liked them. Dad decided that I needed my own so we went and got a few for my first fourth! Only one firework in, I lost it! I was kind of tired and that noise was not doing it for me. Sunday, we went to the Tastefest and that was pretty fun. Needless to say, it was short lived.

But today, I regained my composure and was back to my lovely self! Can you even believe that I am 11 Months old? That means that in only one month, I will be one year old! WOW!!! Today has been pretty fun so far cause Mom and I have played outside and inside and are just having a fun day, waiting for Dad to get home. Mom's number one mission today was to get a picture of my teeth. I have been battling with these two teeth for the longest and after lots of pain and screaming, they poked through late last week. We were all glad about that one! We have been waiting for them! Mom did get a couple of good pictures today so I hope you can see them-they are pretty tiny! I also hope you enjoy reading about my favorites and milestones . . .
