My Trip to the Bookstore

Dad had to make a trip to the bookstore for a weekend class he has so Mom and I decided to tag along. Mom and Dad have been trying to get me used to one of my carriers but I am not too sure how I feel about this one yet. At least I made it alright this time because last time was not so good. I guess since I am almost 2 months old, I can handle things better!

Mom's First Day Back to Work

Today was tough! Mom had to go back to work and I really missed her. I know that she missed me too. She told me that she even cried as soon as she walked out the door! The great part about it is that since Dad is back in school, he gets to stay home with me during the day. What a treat! And it made it a LITTLE easier for Mom to go back to work. Of course, it definitely was hard to be without me for the day but she survived. We will see how she does the rest of the week. Dad and I had a good day but we missed her! When she got home, she was super tired, I could tell, but we spent a lot of time together. I didn't go to sleep the entire evening, I missed two naps and when I finally crashed about 9:30pm this evening, I crashed HARD! (Mom did too)

Another Birthday Party

Since I had so much fun at my cousin A's birthday party, Mom and Dad thought it would be ok for me to attend another one that we had been invited to. Today we went to check out two of my cousins on Dad's side of the family. They live nearby so we got to go to their party. The girl was the flower girl in Mom and Dad's wedding and always loves to see them. They were turning 7 and 4 and everyone had a blast. I obviously cannot bowl at such a young age but I was able to meet new family members. Of course Mom was paranoid about the bowling alley being smokey but Mom and Dad agreed that if it was, they would drop off gifts, say hello, and be on our way. Fortunately, it was a family bowling alley where there was no smoking. Perfect! This made it possible for me to meet more family and friends. Everyone was so impressed with how quiet, calm, and alert I was. Mom and Dad were so proud! I am getting really good with outings now, as long as Mom and Dad are prepared with all the necessary items, most importantly, food! Once we left, I was so tired that I crashed on the way home and slept for quite a while once we returned home. It was a nice time! I loved the colors and lights at the party!

6 Weeks Old

Yesterday marked my 6th week! Can you believe it? How time flies! I just relaxed and enjoyed being with Mom and Dad. I am growing everyday and really getting the hang of how things are done. I am still eating and have moved up to 3 ounces. I have been sleeping better as well but I definitely still wake up to eat. I am sleeping comfortably in my bassinette and enjoy my swing and bouncy seat during the day. Amazing how a couple of weeks made me more comfortable in these things. Mom and Dad really appreciate it because now they are able to enjoy dinner while I sit in my bouncy with them nearby. I am pretty comfortable as long as I can see someone. My 6 week milestone also unfortunately marks Mom's time to begin preparing to return to work. She is already sad to even think about it! We will work on celebrating my 6th week and just deal with that when it comes.

Wow-Blow Out!

It is official! I had a BLOW OUT! It was the first major one of my career and wow, was it major. Ok, so I have had a couple diapers where Mom or Dad had to also change my outfit. This was different-this was so bad, I not only peed but pooed through my diaper, pants, shirt, and even swing cushion. Mom and Dad had to give me a bath immediately! Mom just had to take a picture because she and Dad didn't believe that I was capable of that! I felt so good afterwards but man, was I hungry! I guess I got rid of everything so I screamed "get me some food" once I was bathed, clean, and clothed again.

Celebrating my Cousin's First Birthday!

The rest of this weekend, we spent with Mom's family. It was my cousin's first birthday party so we all were there in honor of her. I was excited to see Mamaw, Papaw, Uncle De, Aunt S, Cousins N and Sa, Uncle Da, Aunt T, Cousins S and A. We got there late Friday evening and I was able to spend a little time with family but I was pretty tuckered out from the ride. On Saturday morning, we got up and my aunt made breakfast for everyone. Cousin Sa and I still cannot enjoy the food but we had our milk! After breakfast, my cousins had some fun outside on the new swingset. It was nice to see them have fun.

Later that afternoon, more guests came over to celebrate the party. My cousin A had a ball with her party and cake. She had to take a bath because she made such a mess with the cake and then she got some really great gifts!

That evening, we were pretty tired so most of us played with each other and then crashed for a while. It was a good thing though because Sunday brought us quite a surprise with the wind! The wind was out of control. Mom and Dad told me about it but honestly, I slept right through most of it--Even when the wind took out the swingset and snapped it. We hung around a little while longer with the family because Mom and Dad were concerned about driving back in all the wind. Instead, we got up early this morning to return.

We had a blast! Even though I could not enjoy the birthday cake yet, I still was happy to celebrate with the family. This weekend really took a lot out of me so now I have to catch up on my beauty sleep (Don't worry-I only sleep on my belly when Mom or Dad are watching)!

Meeting the Rest of Dad's Family

This weekend was my first roadtrip and as you can see I was pretty excited! Thursday morning, we packed up all the essentials and drove to visit with Dad's family. I had only met Granny P and Grandpa W so this was kind of exciting. I got to see my Granny P and Grandpa W again as well as to meet my great Granny, great Uncle P and great Aunt K, great Aunts P and C, Grandpa O, lots of cousins and a couple of friends. Everyone could not believe that I am so small. It was a nice visit but I slept well last night. Once we had visited with the family, we were off to Mom's family for the rest of the weekend, where we will be going to my first birthday party. Check out all the pics of my days with Dad's family . . .

Sleeping in Other Places

Well everyone keeps telling Mom and Dad that the swing is the best for sleeping. I think that I must be the only baby who doesn't like to sleep in my swing yet. I really enjoy the swing when I am fed, changed, and content but once I am sleepy though, I want someone to put me to sleep. What can I say, I am a cuddler? Mom and Dad are trying to work with me so that I can fall asleep without one of them holding me but I am having a hard time. According to the book, "The Baby Whisperer", I am what she calls a "touchy" baby. Mom and Dad agree and I guess so do I! I am touchy. I like to hold your finger, cuddle, and sleep on someone. I guess I will mature and be able to be put down to fall asleep but right now, I am still working on it! Many parents keep telling Mom and Dad they are developing something that they will not be able to keep up but it is a process!

Mom and Dad are proud to announce that after a couple of wimpers and few minutes, I did in fact fall asleep in my swing! Well I only stayed asleep for about 20 minutes in there, but I did try! Not only did I sleep in my swing, I even tried it out in my bouncy seat. I am making great strides to sleep in my swing, bouncy seat, bassinette and on the couch with Mom and Dad nearby. I guess it is not too bad but I have to admit-I'd rather cuddle!

1 Month Doctor's Appointment

Today I had my 1 month doctor's appointment. I am getting better with this whole doctor visit thing but at what age do I not have to be stripped down of even my diaper? That is the part I really do NOT like. Nevertheless, I handled it like a pro today. Dad stayed by my side and I did ok!

Other than that, the doctor gave me a thumbs up. I am growing at the right rate and meeting my milestones. I weigh 9 pounds, 3 ounces now! They measured me and I am still 21.5 inches long (Mom and Dad think I have grown though). I still wear newborn clothes though and some of the great newborn outfits people got me, still don't fit! I cannot wait to be able to wear them so I am making sure I eat and grow healthy.

Mom and Dad got to ask all their "new parent" questions so that their minds could be put to ease. The doctor is really great at recognizing that they are new parents so he is very patient and thorough with answering questions, examining me, and explaining things clearly to Mom and Dad. Mom's biggest question for the doctor today was what is happening to my hair? In the last week or so, Mom and Dad have noticed that my full head of hair seemed to be thinning. I have lost a lot of the hair on the top of my head and Dad is making fun of my hairline (like he has any room to talk-he has to shave his head because of his!). Mom is concerned because I had all this cute hair and a girl just has to stay cute! The doctor assured all of us that this was simply the process, the newborn hair falls out and my "real" hair begins to come in. We are all curious to see how it comes in. I hope it comes in quick though because it does look a little interesting. Although, Mom and Dad still say that I am beautiful!

Happy Grandparents Day!

Today is Grandparent's Day and we would like to wish all those grandparents a special day. I would like to especially wish Mamaw, Papaw, Granny P, and Grandpa a Happy Grandparent's Day! These are the pictures that we had made and are giving to my grandparents in honor of this special day! We love you!

I'm a Popular 1 Month Old Girl!

Today I am officially 1 month old! And believe it or not, I continue to have visitors. Not that I mind at all. But if I do say so myself, I am a pretty popular little girl right now.

Earlier this week, my friend came to meet me for the first time. Our moms already has our friendship planned out but we already have a lot in common . . . we love to sleep, our names both begin with EV, our moms and dads are friends, we have the best dark hair, and we can't wait to get into some stuff! It was a nice time relaxing and getting to know one another.

This weekend our friends came to visit and meet me for the first time. Dad's godson had a blast meeting me. He loved to entertain me with my stuffed animals and even let me check out his Star Wars toys. It was also nice for Mom to talk to another Mommy who has been through this newborn stuff before. Dad's friend came up with his girlfriend to spend the day and visit as well. We went to the mall, got something to eat, and spent some time together. It was a nice way to spend my day as a 1 month old!

Labor Day Weekend with Mamaw and Papaw

This weekend was great! Mamaw and Papaw made the trip up for the holiday weekend and it was great to see them. Mamaw seems to think that I got even longer than when I was born. She said everyone hopes I will be a piano player since I have such long fingers. Papaw loves to hold me, especially when I am asleep. I sleep so good with Papaw. It was a nice weekend. On Friday night, we relaxed with Mamaw and Papaw. On Saturday, we joined my cousins, aunt, and uncle for an early dinner. I have to share Mamaw and Papaw when they are here because my cousins live here too. It is kind of hard since I love being with them, but I've gotta share!

On Saturday night, I needed something to relax me so Mamaw thought it would be a great idea to give me a bath. This is the first FULL bath that I have had so everyone was a bit nervous. I do not like my sponge baths so they were not quite sure how I would respond. I actually really enjoyed it. I remained calm and enjoyed the warm water. Mom and Dad were thrilled to know that I was maturing!

Before Mamaw and Papaw left today, we all met for breakfast. This was my first official restaurant visit and I handled it pretty well. I had a wet diaper when we got there but once Mom and Mamaw got me changed and fed me, I was good to go. I handled the rest of the trip like a pro!

Later this afternoon, we packed up to go for a Labor Day get together with one of Dad's friends. He lives on the lake and it is simply beautiful out there! I enjoyed the outside for a little while but had to spend a lot of my time inside so I did not get too hot. Dad's friend is not used to babies so Dad had to give him a crash course in baby feeding and holding. He did pretty good. It was a nice time but there was so much going on that I did not want to go to sleep. So the first thing I did when we arrived home was to eat then fell fast asleep after a wonderful weekend.
